In passato ha insegnato Teoria del fumetto alla Seika University di Kyoto, in Giappone. Il suo lavoro di ricerca si svolge principalmente nell&#8217;ambito degli studi sul fumetto\/manga e sull&#8217;animazione\/anime e si occupa del rapporto tra il New Formalism e i Media Studies. \u00c8 direttrice della collana Open Access <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stockholm Media Arts Japan<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (pubblicata da Stockholm University Press) e una delle curatrici della collana <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Comics Studies: Aesthetics, Histories, Practices<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (edita da De Gruyter).
